Even though you can make a Sim grow older by feeding their food, it isn't really a very realistic simulation or a fun feature. There are two ways to make your Sim's age up just a bit, and this tutorial covers it. First you need to keep a 10 Simtab of "Food" bundle open in the inventory. I also wanted to say that there is a Sims 3 head start "play pen" or sleeping spot for babies. You can't use the sleeping spot before they are 1 minutes old, but it will keep your baby warm until they're ready to "beddown." I also want to mention that bedding them in the bed is optional, as the space just fine and extra clothing is provided. I did this as I was testing the baby clothes before I decided to have them wear what their Sim parents had on in the first place.
