The transposon_clade branch of the ARO is designed as a phylogenetically-driven hierarchy of the transposon clade, and represents an effort to classify the ongoing evolution of antibiotic resistance genes according to their type, method of activation or transfer, and genomic organization, coupled to their mechanism of action. The current highest level of the transposon_clade hierarchy is based on the CCUG phylogeny of the transposon_clade, and is intended to be used by those wishing to characterize an unknown sequence to the sequence level of this hierarchy. The transposon_clade should not be used for new classifications, nor to update existing ones unless all three constraints are met: the sequence of interest is currently unidentified, the tree level of interest is associated with a subset of the Infraorder, or if the Infraorder itself is incomplete, then a subset of the Order whose taxonomy is known. As a by-product, a list of "Clade Suggestions" has also been made available for those wishing to provide feedback on the ongoing work, to encourage users to stay up to date with the latest information.
The RGI is a comprehensive and open resource for the annotation, classification and reporting of resistance genes according to their gene family, mechanism of action and mechanism of acquisition.
The Resistance Gene Identifier is a rapid tool for determining the antibiotic resistance profile of a microorganism using a selected set of resistance-determining region (RDR) proteins. Users may import FASTA files to determine which RDR proteins are present within a given microorganism, select an ontology for classification of their RDR proteins, and check for resistance to specific drugs. Results may be downloaded in TSV format for use in statistical analysis packages or for conversion into other intermediate/OWL file formats.
Resistance Checker is a tool that compares a set of genomic sequences with a database containing known resistance genes. It is used to identify the best matching genes, and then assists in determining whether the unknown gene carries any known resistance genes. Resistance Checker can identify resistance genes present in any FASTA file, and support multiple queries per sequence. d2c66b5586
